PDO Thread Lift

PDO Thread Lift

Benefits can be seen for up to 3 years

A thread lift is a popular cosmetic alternative to a facelift, performed within an hour it is a great procedure that mimics the effects of surgery without needing to go under the scalpel.

PDO (Polydioxanone) is the most commonly used suture in thread lift procedures and various surgeries. The other two types of threads are made from polylactic acid (PLA) and polycaprolactone (PCA). PDO threads have been around the longest of the three and have been used in surgeries since the 80’s. They’re made from a colourless polyester that breaks down in your body after at least 6 months.

The application process of these sutures in your skin causes microdamage in the Dermis, triggering cells in your body called fibroblasts to produce more collagen. Collagen is the protein that gives your skin its structure and elasticity. Loss of collagen is one of the main causes of aging skin. A thread lift can treat most parts of your face that are experiencing signs of aging. The areas around your cheeks, jaw, neck, and eyes are among the most commonly treated areas.

Understandably the results of thread lifts are not as drastic as that of a facelift, as it is a minor treatment compared to a surgical procedure. Equally the downtime is considerably lower and In some cases, able to work the next day. Thread lifts are commonly used together with other anti-aging procedures such as laser and sub-dermal facials.

The younger the skin the longer the results can last (3 to 4 year). The Older the skin, the worse the skins volume and elasticity can be, and you tend to only see benefits for up to 3 years.
